Niykee is still writing songs, even though she has been part of the current turmoil. Her selection was made for this year's YouTube Brandcast by Snoop and the rapper was with her on stage. As a producer magnet, Niykee is constantly looking through the many beats that are being sent to her. She has found that the majority are a source of new song ideas. In just five seconds, I know whether a track is good or not. Then I get an idea of an original song, and start writing the lyrics immediately. While I'm on my porch and play guitar, the lyrics just appear and usually are written in fewer than thirty minutes. Niykee states that, as she develops as a lyricist her painful memories from her youth serve as source of inspiration. It's difficult to escape the painful memories from my early years, particularly the loss of my sister. They end up being incorporated in her music. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and provides it with a deeper meaning, which I find crucial. I want to be able to hear my music in the next 20 years and feel proud of my words.
