Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena is his older sister, and also a drummer. Lee was two years old when his father relocated his family to California. He also got his first drumsticks around the age of four. He also received his first drum set at the age of 16. Lee dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based club band. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick when he was a teenager. His main drumming influences are John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
